EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a trauma informed psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. The unique feature of this intervention is that it shows that the mind is capable of recovering from psychological wounds just like the body heals itself when physically hurt. In the presence of a structured, consistent, supportive, nurturing and non-intrusive atmosphere, the system recovers from the impact of a disturbing event and moves towards resolution in a way that the event no longer has to be relived.
In the words of Dr. Arielle Schwartz:
The ideal outcome of any trauma therapy is the ability to say: “This happened, it happened to me, and it’s over now. I’m stronger as a result!”

Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes. Cautions: To ensure the efficient application of this successful system of intervention, a clinical understanding and supervised training is mandatory. This is a highly specialised therapy that requires supervised training for therapeutic effectiveness and client safety.
